The Electric M4 Airsoft Rifle

electric m4 airsoft rifle gun aeg
Pictured above is arguably the most popular airsoft gun of all time, the Electric M4 or M16 airsoft rifle. These guns shoot in semi-auto, full-auto and some in 3 round burst. With up to 1000 rpm (rounds per minute), 450 fps (feet per second) and an effective range of 150-180 feet, the electric m4 airsoft AEG rifle is a weapon to be feared.
These airsoft rifles can be easily upgraded to have bigger motors, stiffer springs, and longer barrels to achieve the higher fps rating that serious airsofters want and need. The m4 airsoft gun is a very versatile airsoft rifle. Because it is such a common gun, many different airsoft accessories, made by different companies are interchangeable. This is a great plus for these guns. Compatibility is always an issue in airsoft guns. It is nice to have an airsoft rifle that it is easy to buy parts for.
Electric m4 airsoft rifles have an integrated weaver or picatinny rail on the top of the gun. Most models come with a carry handle mounted to this rail. Another rail may need to be purchased to mount to the carry handle if you want to mount a scope on top of the handle. Or you may want to just remove it and mount it to the integral rail on the gun.
I recommend using a red or green dot scope on the electric m4 airsoft rifle. These scopes are used to quickly and accurately aim. They are smaller and easier to use than a larger traditional sniper rifle scope.
The most common magazine size is a 300 round high capacity magazine. There are also 250 rd, 150 rd and 30 rd magazines available. To use these magazines, they must be wound up on the bottom. There is a dial there that increases tension on the bb’s to insure that they feed correctly into the electric m4 airsoft rifle’s hop-up chamber.
The battery can be located in the front grip or in the butt stock. Chances are if your m4 electric airsoft rifle has a collapsible or folding stock, the battery is located in the front grip, next to the barrel. But if you have a front rail system, the battery will probably be a nun chuck type located in the butt stock.
These airsoft m4 aeg rifles can be used for many applications in airsoft battles. They are great in CQB (close quarters battle), outdoor skirmishing, and even as a sniper. These are very versatile airsoft guns. All of these reasons are why this is America’s favorite airsoft gun. Enjoy your new airsoft electric m4 rifle today.

Maintenance For Your Airsoft Guns

If you just got a new airsoft gun, you need to know how to take care of it to keep it in good working condition for a long time. You should clean the barrel out after every day of use. This is especially important if you use in dusty or sandy environments. Hopefully you purchased some silicone spray oil with your airsoft gun. This is a vital part of maintenance. Spray the oil into the barrel and into the hop-up chamber to insure that every things will function properly. Clean it out using the cleaning rod supplied with your airsoft gun. Use a non-lint producing rag to clean the hop-up chamber.

It is very important to give maintenance to your magazine as well. If you are using an electric (AEG) airsoft rifle or a spring airsoft gun, leave the magazine empty, with no bb’s in it. This will keep the spring strong and insure it doesn’t prematurely lose tension. If you have a green gas airsoft gun or CO2 airsoft gun, leave the magazines pressurized. This will keep all the seals intact. When loading CO2 into the magazine, put a drop of oil on the tip of the cartridge. An alternative to green gas is propane. But propane does not have silicone oil in it like green gas does. Propane can where out a gun faster and should be used with caution. You should never use the release valve to free the gas because it might freeze the o-ring and destroy it.

You need to make sure that you have selected the correct battery for your electric airsoft rifle. You can easily damage the gear box if you use a battery with a higher voltage than what is recommended. A smaller battery, however, may not even be able to power the airsoft rifle. Pay attention to the mAH rating of the battery. That number will correlate to the length of time the battery will last in one session. The higher the mAH rating, the longer the battery will last.

There will be normal wear and tear on your airsoft gun. The paint is going to chip off or get scratched up. Just accept it now because it’s going to happen eventually. Don’t fret over every little scratch or scuff. There is no need to get out the touch up paint every time it happens. This can make your gun look even worse. I recommend waiting until your gun is looking pretty rough over all and completely repainting it. But don’t go buy cheap high gloss dollar store paint. Be sure to get a quality flat spray paint.

Hopefully now you are more knowledgeable about proper airsoft gun maintenance.
