Everybody needs an airsoft pistol in their arsenal. A spring pistol is a good option for people with a small budget. But a green gas airsoft pistol is a much more effective weapon.
Green gas pistols can come with a feature called blowback. This feature adds extreme realism to the airsoft gun. When the gun is fired, the slide slides back just like the real thing. Unlike spring airsoft pistols, a green gas pistol can be fired consecutively without having to cock it each time. Some models can even shoot in full-auto. These guns have a great feel of realism due to the weight and the recoil.
Green gas is becoming more preferred over co2 airsoft pistols. Green gas airsoft pistols usually have a little more power. Green gas is used more efficiently in the gun. It is also more cost effective. You can get more shots per gram of green gas than you can with co2. On average a fill of green gas can last for about 60 bb’s while a co2 cartridge may only last 40 shots.
Green gas pistols have a different fuel filling method. The magazine has a reservoir in it that holds the green gas. Some may argue that this is more inconvenient to fill while some prefer it. I prefer to have a couple magazines filled and ready to go for quick reloads on the battlefield.
Green gas is propane with silicone oil infused in it. The silicone oil keeps all the seal lubed properly. Without using the silicone oil, the gun risks being damaged. Some use straight propane in their green gas airsoft pistols. This is not but it will work. An adapter must be bought in fill the reservoir.

Maintenance For Your Airsoft Guns
If you just got a new airsoft gun, you need to know how to take care of it to keep it in good working condition for a long time. You should clean the barrel out after every day of use. This is especially important if you use in dusty or sandy environments. Hopefully you purchased some silicone spray oil with your airsoft gun. This is a vital part of maintenance. Spray the oil into the barrel and into the hop-up chamber to insure that every things will function properly. Clean it out using the cleaning rod supplied with your airsoft gun. Use a non-lint producing rag to clean the hop-up chamber.
It is very important to give maintenance to your magazine as well. If you are using an electric (AEG) airsoft rifle or a spring airsoft gun, leave the magazine empty, with no bb’s in it. This will keep the spring strong and insure it doesn’t prematurely lose tension. If you have a green gas airsoft gun or CO2 airsoft gun, leave the magazines pressurized. This will keep all the seals intact. When loading CO2 into the magazine, put a drop of oil on the tip of the cartridge. An alternative to green gas is propane. But propane does not have silicone oil in it like green gas does. Propane can where out a gun faster and should be used with caution. You should never use the release valve to free the gas because it might freeze the o-ring and destroy it.
You need to make sure that you have selected the correct battery for your electric airsoft rifle. You can easily damage the gear box if you use a battery with a higher voltage than what is recommended. A smaller battery, however, may not even be able to power the airsoft rifle. Pay attention to the mAH rating of the battery. That number will correlate to the length of time the battery will last in one session. The higher the mAH rating, the longer the battery will last.
There will be normal wear and tear on your airsoft gun. The paint is going to chip off or get scratched up. Just accept it now because it’s going to happen eventually. Don’t fret over every little scratch or scuff. There is no need to get out the touch up paint every time it happens. This can make your gun look even worse. I recommend waiting until your gun is looking pretty rough over all and completely repainting it. But don’t go buy cheap high gloss dollar store paint. Be sure to get a quality flat spray paint.
Hopefully now you are more knowledgeable about proper airsoft gun maintenance.
